Pay Our N77,000 ‘Allawee’, Corps Members Tell NYSC

The corps members who were reacting to the warning by the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream Two Corps Members undergoing their three weeks induction at Nasarawa State Orientation Camp in Magaji Dan Yamusa, Keffi, noted that the advice was not necessary as they no longer travel at night due to insecurity.

In the report posted on the NYSC platform on Facebook, the DG had also warned the Corps Members to avoid travelling out of their States of deployment without getting approval from the NYSC.

“This is not what we want to hear from you…… Forget about the issue of unauthorized journey or night travel and inform corpers about their long awaiting 77k,” one Abubakar Kirikasamma commented on Facebook.

Another corps member, Ahmad YJ, stated that they couldn’t teach in the classroom due to hunger and urged the federal government to pay the increased allowance.

“We can’t teach while we’re hungry. Pay the 77k please,” he said.

Also speaking, Alfred Polymath, lamented that his landlord has been asking for his rent which he could not pay because of the ‘small’ allowance being paid.

“The issue of implementation on increase in corps members allowance is the most top priority of every corpse member as at now before any other issues could be listened to!

“My landlord has started asking me for his rent fee and 33k can’t pay the rent to remain for other basics,” he said.
