The meeting, characterized as “unique and ambitious,” underscored the party’s determination to unify and strategize towards regaining political dominance across various states.
Governor Mohammed, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, articulated the forum’s agenda, which included discussions on governance, party administration, inter-party relations, and upcoming congresses.
He emphasized the imperative of providing Nigerians with a credible alternative amidst national concerns of drifting towards anarchy.
“We share a history and aspirations for Nigerians,” Governor Mohammed affirmed, highlighting the need for the PDP to assert itself in states currently governed by other parties.
The governors expressed full support for the Nigeria Labour Congress’s (NLC) demand for a new minimum wage, aligning with efforts to improve workers’ conditions nationwide.
The marathon meeting, attended by prominent PDP governors including Sheyin Makinde of Oyo, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Godwin Obaseki of Edo, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Ahmed Fintiri of Adamawa, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, and host governor Peter Mbah of Enugu, concluded with a call for a political resolution to the ongoing crisis in Rivers State.
The forum’s robust deliberations also encompassed endorsing the federal government’s initiative on local government autonomy, underscoring their commitment to strengthening democratic processes and governance structures nationwide.
