We had earlier reported that the incident occurred during food distribution at the church premises.
Confirming the ugly development, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command in a statement by its spokesperson, Josephine Adeh said ten bodies were recovered.
The PPRO said four children and six adults were among those confirmed dead so far.
According to her, about eight others were left with varying degrees of injuries.
“Four (4) of the injured have been treated and discharged, while the remaining victims continue to receive medical care”,she said.
Josephine added that the“FCT Police Rapid Response Squad and the FCT Joint Task Force have successfully evacuated the remaining crowd, which numbered over a thousand”.
