President Tinubu Replaces Ogun-Osun River Basin Authority MD Amid Protests, Reassigns Woke to NOSDRA

President Bola Tinubu has dismissed Chukwuemeka Woke from his position as managing director (MD) of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA). However, the appointment didn’t seat well with some groups and individuals arguing it violated principles of familiarity and regional representation.

On Wednesday, presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale announced that Dr. Adedeji Ashiru would replace Woke. Tinubu has now reassigned Woke to function in the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) as the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer.

The statement noted: “Engineer Woke, an environmental specialist and politician, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering. He has experience in the Environmental, Safety, and Operations Departments of the former Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and has served as Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area and Chief of Staff at Government House, Port Harcourt.

“Dr. Ashiru holds a Doctorate degree in Engineering from the Commonwealth University, UK. He has led a consortium of blue-chip companies and has a distinguished professional record.

The President expects the new Chief Executive Officers to utilize their expertise to achieve sustainable improvements and transparency in their respective agencies.
