“The governor’s decision to dethrone the former Emir Aminu Ado Bayero was in the best interest of the people of Kano state,” Bature asserted. He highlighted that the court’s ruling, delivered by Judge Amina Aliyu, underscored the validity of the state’s legislative actions and constitutional framework regarding the emirate system.

Highlighting the broader implications of the court’s decision, he said, “Former Emir Aminu Ado Bayero was unfortunately used to politicise the Kano Emirate in 2020. Now, his removal serves as an opportunity to depoliticise this traditional institution, which should preserve the cultural and religious heritage of the people of Kano.”

Regarding the current state of affairs in Kano, Bature emphasised that despite initial challenges surrounding the depositions and legal disputes, peace has prevailed. “Kano has been peaceful because the governor and the people have moved forward from the issue of Emirates,” he explained. “Our focus remains on governance and meeting the needs of our large population.”

Addressing the logistical challenges around the vacation of the Nasawara mini palace by Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, Bature reiterated that judicial orders must be followed, with security forces prepared to enforce them. He expressed concern for the Emir’s well-being, urging him to seek a more suitable living arrangement for himself and his family.

Bature said, “the recent legal developments underscore our commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that traditional institutions like the Kano Emirate serve their intended cultural and societal roles.”

He advised that Aminu Ado Bayero should try to live a normal life, noting that “he is not the first Emir to be deposed, being out of the emir is not a life and death issue.”
