1. Sugary food and drinks

Excessively consumption of sugary foods and drinks can affect your eyesight. Excess sugar and insulin in the body cause impairment in vision like glaucoma, retinopathy etc and also other medical conditions

2. Processed meat

Most of these processed meats like bacon, hot dogs, bacon, deli meats, pork are overflowing with sodium, which in excess is bad for your eyes. Increased intake of processed or red meat can lead to high blood pressure which in turn can result in damage of the blood vessels hence causing blurred vision or loss of vision called hypertensive retinopathy

3. Fried Foods

Research has shown that deep-fried foods contain trans fats which increase LDL cholesterol levels. Deep-fried foods containing trans fats increase LDL cholesterol levels.

These foods may also release free radicals that may harm the cells of the body, including the eyes. Instead of eating fried foods, you should consume more fruits and vegetables which will help you eradicate free radicals.

4. Alcohol

Excess consumption of alcohol will make the blood vessels in your eyes expand and fill up with blood, which causes redness of the eyes. This process will have a long term negative effect on your eyes and result in vision impairment

5. Fish and shellfish

Fish and shellfish have mercury which most of us don’t need to worry about when we consume them moderately. However, some categories of persons might be in danger of having vision impairment when mercury levels in their bodies are high. Example of these people is pregnant women, nursing mothers and children.

6. Pasta and bread

According to research, simple carbs which are found in bread and spaghetti, are linked to increased risk of age-related eye disorders, especially in older persons. It is advisable to eat more whole-grain bread and pasta

7. Ready-to-Eat Foods

Prepackaged foods — things like soup, tomato sauce, and canned goods — often have high amounts of sodium, up to 75% of the suggested amount. You should eat less of these foods to reduce your chances of having high blood pressure and eye-related problems.
