Victor Boniface (Bayer Leverkusen), Paul Onuachu (Southampton), Kelechi Iheanacho (now a free agent), and Terem Moffi (OGC Nice) were preferred over the former Feyenoord striker.

Even with the absence of Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Umar Sadiq, Dessers didn’t receive an invitation to the team.

The former Cremonese striker revealed that being left out of the last qualifiers left him disappointed and worried about his international future.

“It really left me worried because I worked under the coach in the first two games he handled, and even scored. I expected to be involved, but it’s Nigeria, where we have many options, and the latest snub made me feel like it’s curtains down for me,” he said as quoted by OwnGoalNigeria.

Dessers had an impressive season with Rangers last season, netting 22 goals for the Scottish giants.
