Ruben Amorim‘s side currently sit 13th in the Premier League table, 14 points away from the top four. They have won just one of their last three league games, and are in desperate need of an improvement in results.
United signed full-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, and youngster Ayden Heaven from Arsenal, but were unable to sign an attacker to replace Marcus Rashford who joined Aston Villa on loan.
They will now look ahead to the summer transfer window, hoping that they will be able to improve their squad and bring in some players who suit Amorim’s system.
But, four United players are set to leave the club in the summer as their contracts expire in June, meaning that they will either need to be re-signed, or replaced in the transfer market.
Press the next page to see which four Manchester United players are due to run out of contract in the summer.
Christian Eriksen
Midfielder Eriksen has been at United since July 2022 when he joined from Brentford. He has been in and out of the starting XI at Old Trafford since then.
The Dane has made 63 Premier League appearances for United, scoring two goals, and under Amorim, has struggled to get much game time.
It is likely that United won’t re-sign the 32-year-old, and that he will leave for somewhere else as a free agent in the summer.
Jonny Evans
It was a strange signing when United re-signed Evans in 2023 on a short-term deal, as he still remains a United player in 2025.
The Northern-Irishman came through the academy at Manchester United, and made 131 Premier League appearances for them before moving to West Brom in 2015.
Since then, the centre-back had a spell at Leicester before returning to United. He is now 37, and will likely move on as either a free agent or retire in the summer.
Victor Lindelof
Swedish defender Lindelof has struggled this season with injury problems, but has been a good servant to United over the years.
The 30-year-old joined the club in 2017 from Benfica, and has made a total of 183 Premier League appearances for United since.
Amorim could decide to extend his contract to keep some depth to his defensive options, although seeing as he hasn’t been playing Lindelof, he looks set to leave in the summer.
Tom Heaton
Goalkeeper Heaton was signed in 2021 as a reserve goalkeeper. He has made just three appearances for United – two in the Carabao Cup, and one in the Champions League.
The 38-year-old had his most successful spell with Burnley in the Premier League, but also spent time with Cardiff City, Bristol City and Aston Villa.
He will likely leave in the summer to either become a free agent, or retire from playing, much like Jonny Evans.
