Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation had sent notice of Monday’s Federal Executive Council meeting to cabinet members, but later withdrew them to ostensibly allow the President meet with the service chiefs, which is seen as paramount, giving the dicey situation generated by the protest.
To diffuse the destructive ambience caused by the protest, President Tinubu made a nationwide broadcast, in which he called for the cessation of further protest, and the need for dialogue to prevent further loss of lives and property.
However, in what appears to be a clear disregard for the President’s show of statesmanship, more frightening events are taking place in some states in the name of protest.
This therefore calls for an emergency security meeting to bring out the needed solution to the problem.
