A member of the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Presidential Campaign Council, Adetokunbo Pearse, described President Bola Tinubu as a book keeper and criticized his decision to remove fuel subsidy as a disaster.

During an interview on Channels Television, on Monday, May 6, 2024, he called on the federal government to release the actual landing cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly known as petrol.

According to him, instead of destroying the economy with total subsidy removal, President Tinubu should have carefully assessed the Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, over the fluctuations in the landing cost.

Amid the hardship, several Nigerians took to social media to express their regret at voting for Tinubu in the 2023 general elections.
