“Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident was caused by excessive speeding during a downpour this morning,” the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority said in a statement.
According to a post on its verified X handle, LASTMA (Lagos State Traffic Management Authority) reported that its personnel were swiftly deployed to the accident scene to manage the situation and control traffic flow amidst the challenging weather conditions.
“Say no to speeding on the third mainland bridge!” it added.
Mr. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, announced in a statement issued through Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department at LASTMA, that rescue efforts at the accident scene resulted in the successful rescue of three individuals, who received immediate medical attention.
Mr. Giwa praised the prompt response of LASTMA operatives, who quickly arrived at the accident site near the Unilag waterfront, on the Iyana-Oworonsoki-bound route, to provide assistance and control the situation.
