Their relentless efforts in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and battling various security threats have not gone unnoticed. General Lagbaja’s commendation came during his visit to the 23 Brigade at Gibson Jalo Cantonment in Yola, Adamawa State, on the occasion of his operational tour on 1 May 2024.

The visit, which coincided with a public holiday, underscored the COAS’s commitment to personally assess the welfare and operational readiness of the troops.

This was contained in a press statement by Major General Onyema Nwachkwu, Director of Army Public Relations, ade available to Newsmen in Abuja.

General Lagbaja highlighted the transformational journey of the NA, backed by the Federal Government’s provision of critical combat resources and welfare support.

‘This support has significantly boosted the morale and operational efficiency of the troops.

The COAS revealed the Federal Government’s approval of funds to settle the long-standing Group Life Assurance claims dating back to 2012.

He also emphasised the ongoing efforts to improve the working and living conditions for NA personnel and their families. General Lagbaja assured that the challenges identified during his visit to the brigade would be promptly addressed.

General Lagbaja expressed his appreciation for the state’s support of the troops, which has been instrumental in maintaining peace and tranquility.

He encouraged the continuation of this support to further enhance the troops’ operations.

Governor Fintiri, acknowledging the significant reduction in crime within the state, praised the troops for their commendable performance under current conditions.

He noted the effective interagency cooperation among security agencies and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the NA and other security forces in their endeavors to ensure the safety and security of Adamawa State.
