“Is there anywhere that’s more fun to be than a Trump rally,” said the former US president as another security breach took place during his political campaign in Pennsylvania. News agency AP reported that a man stormed into the media gallery at the Johnstown rally as Donald Trump delivered his speech on Friday (Aug 30). Soon after, another person was detained from the crowd by police and taken outside. It was not clear whether the second person was related to the security breach.
The Friday incident reminded people of the assassination attempt on the 45th US president during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump barely survived the attack, sustaining minor injuries to his right ear. The incident not only led to the resignation of the then-director of the US Secret Service Kim Cheatle but also to the tightening of Trump’s security.
Podcaster George Behizy took to X to describe the Friday security breach, blaming the incident on “a deranged Democrat.”
“A Deranged Democrat tried to breach the security at Trump’s rally in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and got dealt with BEAUTIFULLY by the cops,” he posted on X. “They surrounded, and got him out of there within SECONDS!” he added.
It was not clear what motivated the man to storm the press area. Also, there is no information available regarding his political ideology and whether he was a supporter of Donald Trump or an opponent. Trump and his supporters often criticise media during rallies and it’s possible the man may have wanted to harass the journalists.
The Friday Trump rally was hosted by the right-wing group, ‘Moms for Liberty’.
