Chelsea hold an interest in Archie Gray but it seems the Leeds United midfielder is on his way to Tottenham. Spurs are closing in on a £25million move for Gray, with Joe Rodon set to move the other way in a separate deal. The Blues had scouts at several Leeds matches in the Championship last season and were impressed with what they saw from Gray, and his teammate Crysencio Summerville, football.london understands. However, with Gray now Tottenham-bound, Chelsea are unlikely to look to hijack any transfer, especially with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on his way to Stamford Bridge from Leicester City.
Chelsea agreed a £30million deal with the Foxes on Sunday afternoon for the 25-year-old, who is set to reunite with Enzo Maresca following their success together at the King Power Stadium. The Blues look set to add the central midfielder to the club to add much-needed depth in the area with Chelsea involved in European competition again next season.
Conor Gallagher, though, still could leave. The 24-year-old has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge and is the subject of interest from Aston Villa, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid.
Villa have held talks with Gallagher and his representatives over a possible move to Unai Emery’s side. They will, however, have to wait until after England’s involvement at Euro 2024 is over, with the Three Lions ensuring their tournament continues with a dramatic comeback victory against Slovakia on Sunday evening.
Speaking ahead of the tournament starting, Gallagher was asked plenty about his future at Chelsea. With less than a year to go on his deal, football understands there have not been any talks between the player and the club about extending his time in SW6.
“I am a Chelsea player right now,” Gallagher said. “Like I said, I am thinking about England and the tournament. I’ve been focusing on England. This is the most important thing right now for me. I just want to start the tournament now.”
Meanwhile, Romeo Lavia will work on his fitness during this summer’s pre-season campaign. The Belgian midfielder had a disaster of a debut season with Chelsea – where he made just one appearance following his £58million move from Southampton the summer before.
Lavia arrived at Chelsea with an ankle injury and when he recovered from the problem, he made his debut against Crystal Palace in late-December. That was only a brief cameo but he hurt his hamstring in the win at Stamford Bridge and then missed the remainder of the season.
