He was one of the key players under Enzo Maresca, who offered him a new role in the team, by giving him freedom to roam forward and he was rewarded with impressive numbers to help the team gain promotion.

Ndidi scored five goals and recorded five assists in 32 appearances with an 82 per cent pass accuracy for Leicester City in the Championship last season.

He has now revealed that he has an unfinished business at the club, and he is looking forward to their return to the Premier League.

Ndidi said: “There have been great memories (at the club) and I’m looking forward to what we are going to create going forward.

“I feel great, I feel excited, I feel at home. That is the most important thing.

“We know this is where we belong. It’s just that unfinished business that we have to continue.”

Ndidi said it was an easy decision to renew his contract, citing family settlement as one of the reasons why he turned down other offers.

He added, “It was quite an easy decision because my family is settled here, and my daughter is going to school.

“It is kind of relaxed because I know that my family is sorted on the other side. It means that I can actually just focus on football.”

Ndidi will be playing under a new coach at Leicester City next season after Steve Cooper was appointed to replace Enzo Maresca, who joined Chelsea in May.

He has already spoken to the experienced coach ahead of the new season.

Ndidi said, “He shared some good ideas with me. He is a great guy. He is funny. I’m actually looking forward to working with him. It is very exciting,”

“We know the Premier League is where we belong. We will try our best to also keep it that way, because we want to be here and we want to stay here.”

The 27-year-old has won the FA Cup, Community Shield, and the Championship title with the club while scoring 17 goals in 273 appearances for the Foxes.
