The fight according to various stakeholders is about who exerts political control in the state.

Reacting to the recent controversy that has rocked the state, Sani said on X, “Rivers State has been left in the hands of God to solve the problem.”

The crisis has led to the emergence of two parallel speakers, Martin Amaewhule and Victor Oko-Jumbo.

President Bola Tinubu’s earlier intervention did not yield the expected result.

Meanwhile, Gov Fubara has said he will not “oppress” anyone in the state.

In a statement, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara’s chief press secretary, said the governor spoke on Monday when he received stakeholders of the Ikwerre ethnic group at the government house in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Alluding to the political crisis in Rivers, Fubara said he has “not thrown caution to the wind” because he is peaceful.

Fubara told the Ikwere stakeholders that he was grateful for becoming governor through the help of Wike, their son.

Wike is an Ikwerre man from Rumuepirikom in Obio-Akpor LGA.
