P.M.EXPRESS reports that the woman, Kehinde, has been arrested and charged for not only constituting nuisance in public place but assaulting the victim, Mr. Gerald in the process.
The incident happened on 11th October, 2024, at the superstore located at Jakande Gate, Ejigbo area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect had a disagreement with the victim over an undisclosed matter, which led to exchange of words. In, the process, she allegedly slapped him, held his shirt and damaged his phones worth N530,000.
The management contacted the Police at Ejigbo Division. The operatives moved into action, arrested and detained her at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found her culpable and subsequently charged her before Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The charges read:
That you Igbin Kehinde T, on the 11 day of October, 2024, at about 1430hrs, at Jendol Superstore, Jakande Gate, Ejigbo, Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by causing nuisance in a public place and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168 (d) of the Criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
Count II: That you, Igbin Kehinde ‘T, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully damage one Plus Nord Android Phone, one Tecno Camon II android Phone, one Tecno Camon Android phone, valued N530,000.00, property of one Okosisi Gerald and two others customers and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 339 (2) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
Count III: That you, Igbin Kehinde T, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully assault one Okosisi Gerald ‘m’ by holding his shirt and slapped him and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 173 of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
