Deputy Governor of Edo State, Engr. Marvelous Omobayo at the weekend received defectors from NNPP, APC and Labour Party across various wards in Etsako East Local Government Area assuring them of fair treatment by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a press statement by Benjamin Atu, Chief Press Secretary, Etsako East Local Government Area, “You are coming into the party at the right time. This is the time when you can play an active role and display your capacity as we approach the governorship election.
“I am very happy with the crowd of defectors I am seeing here today, and if everyone I am seeing here now is able to bring 20 persons each into the party then we must have depopulated all others,” quoted the Deputy Governor as saying.
The Deputy Governor, who received the defectors at the party secretariat in Agenebode, the local government headquarters, on behalf of the governor and state party chairman, assured them of fairness and equity in their new party (PDP), promising that they would benefit from every opportunity regarding the welfare of members without sentiments.
According to the Deputy Governor, Asue Ighodalo is a good product and it is easy to market a good product. “Let us go to our various wards and units to canvass for more support. You are entitled to all rights accrued to the rest of our members as we are a party without discrimination. PDP is one big family and it belongs to everybody,” he said.
While commending the local government chairman for her broad mind, the Deputy Governor described Hon. (Princess) Benedicta Attoh as a woman with foresight who sees the future. “She is a hard working chairman and one who has done more than men would have done,” he said.
Earlier in her presentation, the Council Chairman welcomed the defectors to a new family that cares and stays together, and urged them to go to their various wards and attend party meetings regularly for updates concerning the party ahead of the governorship election.
Hon. (Princess) Benedicta Attoh assured the Deputy Governor of more harvest of defectors as several individuals have already indicated interest to join the PDP from the opposition. The victory of Asue Ighodalo and Ogie will start from every unit and every ward in Etsako East, she said.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Mr Sammy Yakubu and Clement Emafidor, who led their various groups, assured the Deputy Governor of their readiness to commit themselves to the success of PDP in the forthcoming Edo governorship election. “I am burning my APC card and will serve PDP with greater vigour,” they assured.
