Besides, he said he would declare a state of emergency on infrastructure, education, health and others to restore development to the state.
He stated this at the Oredo local government rally where he expressed appreciation for the large turnout saying “Thank you Oredo, Edo state will witness a new development, let me tell you that this is the time that the civil servants will enjoy, there will be no consultants coming from somewhere to do their job. We will give them the opportunities they need to do their jobs, their salaries and allowances will be guaranteed, and nobody will reduce it.
“For the market women, they will get interest-free loans, for education, we will employ five thousand teachers immediately we come in. We are going to declare a state of emergency on infrastructure, health, and education so that things will work in the state again.”
On his part, the Director General of the Edo State APC Governorship Campaign Council, Sen. Matthew Urhoghide appealed to the people of Oredo local government area to ensure that their vote for APC on September 21 surpasses other local governments in the state.
Urhoghide said Okpebholo and his running mate, Hon Dennis Idahosa are politicians who have won their elections before while others contesting are traders.
“We want massive support for them on September 21, Edo North and Central have agreed to vote massively for them, so we expect all Edo South to follow suit”.
On his part, Sen. Adams Oshiomhole disclosed that the literary meaning of ‘Akpakomiza’ in Benin language as the APC candidate is fondly referred to means ‘Redeemer’, adding that as the name suggested Okpebholo would be coming to redeemed the people of the state.
He said “Before he was called Akpakomiza but after seeing what is happening in the state, I have rechristened him Akpakorescue and between him and Idahosa, we have the energy Edo requires to drive it.”
