The circular, signed by Abubakar Mohammed, the Director of Corps Mobilisation, was sent to various officials within the NYSC, including directors, acting directors, and state and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) coordinators. The document, titled “Review of Criteria for Concessional Deployment/Relocation for Married Female Corps Members,” addresses changes in the approval process for the relocation requests of married women.
According to the circular, the NYSC management has officially approved the review of the criteria for concessional deployment and relocation for married female corps members. The new directive states that the requirement to change a maiden name to that of a spouse is now eliminated from the process. This decision is expected to simplify and accelerate the redeployment process for those affected by marriage.
The circular further clarifies that while the name change requirement has been removed, “Other requirements remain as they were.” This means that married female corps members seeking redeployment will still need to meet the other established criteria, which remain unchanged. This policy shift is part of an ongoing effort by the NYSC to address the concerns and needs of corps members.
State and FCT coordinators are now expected to ensure strict adherence to these new directives, ensuring that the revised policy is fully implemented across the country. Area office directors have also been tasked with overseeing the effective monitoring and enforcement of the changes.
